Split a bill, and merge two bills

Steps

  1. 1

    Open the order in Cashier

Tap Cashier in the sidebar, then select the guest’s order in the Active list.

  2. 2

    Tap Actions, then Split Bill

In the bottom button row, tap Actions next to Proceed to Payment, then choose Split Bill.

  3. 3

    Enter the Cashier PIN

EnakPOS asks for a Cashier PIN, prompting "Enter your PIN to split bill". If the bill still carries an order discount, that discount has to be cleared first.

  4. 4

Move items onto the new bills

Tap + Add bill for each extra bill, then set the quantity per item with the minus and plus buttons. Anything you do not move stays on the original bill.

  5. 5

    Create the bills

Tap Create 1 new bill (the number follows how many bills you built). Each new bill appears in the Active list and is paid on its own.

  6. 6

    Or merge two bills

For the other direction, choose Merge Bill in the Actions menu. Pick the Target Order (merge into), settle the customer and table, then tap Merge Orders. The source order is cancelled.

If the guests only want to pay equal amounts, do not split the bill at all. Use Auto Split in the Multi-Payment window when you take payment.

Good to know

A little more depth, so your team understands why, not just which button.

Why Split Bill needs a PIN and Merge Bill does not

Split Bill creates new orders and moves money between them, so EnakPOS asks for a Cashier PIN to put a name against it. Merge Bill pulls everything into one bill whose total stays visible, so no PIN is asked for.

A discount has to come off before you split

If the bill still carries an order discount, EnakPOS asks you to clear it before Split Bill runs. The reason is simple: one bill’s discount cannot be divided fairly across several new ones. Reapply the discount per bill afterwards.

Merging cancels the source order

Merge Bill moves the items onto the Target Order and then cancels the source order. You also choose whether to keep the target order’s customer and table or set different ones. Check the Target Order before tapping Merge Orders.

Splitting while the internet is down

With no connection the split is stored on the device and completed automatically once you are back online. The screen reads "Split queued (offline)". Do not run it again, or the new bills appear twice.
