Steps

  1. 1

    Spot the signs

The strip at the top changes from Online to Offline or Working Offline. Tap the chevron to open the status panel.

  2. 2

    Carry on serving

Take orders as usual. When you tap Proceed, EnakPOS warns that the order is saved on the device and will sync when the connection returns.

  3. 3

    Know what is paused

Change Table, order approvals and online reprints are marked "Unavailable while offline". Do those once you are back online.

  4. 4

    Let it sync

When the internet returns, orders and payments upload on their own. The status panel shows what is queued, why a sync failed, and End offline session.

Signing in offline uses the Offline PIN, and only works if that PIN was loaded while the device was online. Message us before a shift if a new tablet has never been online.

Good to know

A little more depth, so your team understands why, not just which button.

What is stored on the tablet

Orders, payments and other actions are saved on the device and upload on their own when the internet returns. Do not close the app or switch the tablet off until the status panel shows everything has gone through.

If your venue uses several tablets

In a venue with several tablets, one is nominated to upload the offline sales. Nominating it needs a supervisor PIN, so ask us to set it up before a busy shift.

The offline PIN

Signing in offline uses the Offline PIN, and only works if that PIN was loaded while the tablet was online. A new tablet must be online at least once before it can be used without internet.
