Steps

  1. 1

    Open the Modifiers page

In EnakVP, go to Your Menu > Modifiers. The page has three tabs: Modifier Group, Modifier Option and Menu Item. Start on Modifier Group and tap Create Modifier Group.

  2. 2

    Name the group

Fill in Modifier Group Name for your own reference, such as Spice Level. Fill in Display Name with what guests see. EnakVP puts it plainly: "This will be visible to customers."

  3. 3

    Choose its options

Under Modifier Options, pick the options that belong in this group. No options yet? Build them first on the Modifier Option tab with Add Modifier Option, then come back to the group.

  4. 4

    Set the choice rules

Switch on Is this required? if the guest must answer, then set Minimum Selection. Pick a Selection Type: Single choice (pick 1), Multiple choice (limited) or Multiple choice (unlimited). Maximum Selection only appears for Multiple choice (limited).

  5. 5

    Set the price per channel

Prices sit on each option, under Pricing per Sales Channel. On the Prices table, tap Add price, choose the Channel and fill in the Price. A channel with no price row means the option is not offered on that channel at all.

  6. 6

Attach the group to your dishes

Go to Your Menu > Menu Management, open the menu with View, edit the dish and pick your group in the Modifiers field. Faster for many dishes: use the Menu Item tab on the Modifiers page, tap Edit on a row, and tick the groups.

A Price of 0 makes the option free on that channel. A Price below 0 takes money off the line, which is how a smaller-size option works.

Good to know

A little more depth, so your team understands why, not just which button.

Who can change modifiers

The Modifiers page is open to Owners and Managers. Regular staff only see it if your venue has opened the Menu & Categories module to them. Because one group is shared by many dishes, a change here lands right across your menu at once.

A group with no price row will not show

An option is only offered on a channel that has a price row for it. Only a Regular row? Then the option does not appear on GrabFood and guests there cannot pick it. This is by far the most common reason a modifier goes missing on one channel only.

Modifier or upsell?

A plain modifier only describes the dish and prints under it. Fill in This option is a menu item and the option becomes an upsell: it prints at that item's station, takes that item's stock, and is reported as that item. Choose deliberately, because stock and reporting follow it.

Groups that only ask a question

Switch Print on docket? off for a group that only asks something, such as "Eat here or take away?". The answer stays on the order and the receipt, without cluttering the kitchen docket.
