How guests follow their order in the queue
Give takeaway guests a number to watch on their own phone, so nobody crowds the counter asking whether their food is ready.
Steps
- 1
The guest opens the queue page
After paying, the confirmation screen shows Follow your order. The same link is in the order email, and a View queue button sits next to every order on the Your orders page. Nothing to download and no account needed.
- 2
While the order is being cooked
Their number fills the top of the page under Your number, with the order number below it and the line Your order is being prepared. When the counter is busy, that line says how many orders are being prepared instead. On some phones a Notify me when it is ready button appears here too.
- 3
Your team taps Ready
In EnakPOS, open Queue in the sidebar. Orders being cooked sit under Being prepared. Tap Ready when the food comes out, and Picked up once the guest has taken it. Tapped the wrong one? Undo puts it back.
- 4
The guest sees READY
Their page turns green and READY fills the screen with the number under it, plus Please collect it at the counter. The tab title flashes and the phone chimes, so a guest looking at something else still notices.
- 5
The board anyone can read
The same page without a personal number is the plain board: Ready to pickup and Being prepared, as lists. Put it on a screen near the counter, because the board never shows guest names or what anyone ordered.
The order queue is switched on by EnakPay, not from your own settings page. Until it is on, the queue page reads "This venue is not using the order queue." and Queue does not appear in EnakPOS. Message us and we will turn it on.
Good to know
A little more depth, so your team understands why, not just which button.
The queue never says how many are ahead
The page tells a guest how busy the counter is, not their place in line. A kitchen serves by cook time rather than by number, so "you are next" is a promise the kitchen could not keep.
Notify me when it is ready does not always appear
That button only shows while the order is still being prepared, and only on phones that support web notifications. If the guest refuses notifications, the page still does the job itself: leave it open and it chimes and flashes the tab title.
The board does not show who ordered what
The public board carries numbers and status only, with no names and no items. That is what makes it safe to show on a screen the whole room can read.
When no register is open
With no open register the board reads "The counter is closed right now." Open the register in EnakPOS and the queue runs again.
