1.2.1.1 How to create a new modifier group

To create a new modifier group, do the following:

  1. Click on Your Menu > Modifiers.

  2. Near the top right, click on Create Modifier Group button

    1. Modifier Group Name: This is how you will link your modifier group to the menu item. You can name this as anything, your staff and customers will not see this name unless you do not enter in a Display Name. For example, you might have drinks with different sizes, smoothies and coffees, but they are linked with different modifier options. You might name Smoothie Size and Coffee Size so when you create or edit menu items. You can search for “Smoothie Size” or “Coffee Size”.

    2. Display Name: This is the title the customers will see before each modifier option. For Example, with the different drink sizes (Smoothie and Coffee) you might display the title as “Choose your size” for both to inform customers of what they need to choose now.

    3. Display Group as expanded?: On the Customer App, when the customer selects a Menu Item. If this is toggles “ON”, the Modifier Group will be open with the Modifier Options all displayed immediately. With this toggled as “OFF”, customers will need to tap on the Modifier Group Display Name to see the Modifier Options. We recommend, if the modifier is required, to toggle this modifier group as “ON”, to show the customers they need to select an option/

    4. Is this required?: This feature can be used in multiple ways.

      1. Required “ON”: Customers have to select the Minimum Selection you have set. For example, coffee size, the customer has to select a size, so you will have this are “ON”

      2. Required “OFF”: This is when you can have “Add-Ons” to increase sales, if customers can add “French-Fries”, this allows the customers to add “French-Fries” easily.

    5. Minimum Selection: When you have a menu item that requires more information such as “size” or “sides”, and you select Is This Required as “ON”. This will automatically be set as 1. But you can increase. For example, if your menu item comes with 2 choices of sauces, you’ll set the minimum as 2.

    6. Maximum Selection: When you require the customer to only be able to select a specific amount, for example a “coffee size” you will set the Minimum Selection as “1” and Maximum Selection as “1”. They will not be able to select any less or any more than that. (Note: If you have “Add-Ons” do not set any Minimum Selection and “TICK” No Maximum Selection)

    7. No Maximum Selection: This feature is best used for upsells and you want to have customers add as many items as they would like.

  3. Click on the Create or Create & Create another button.
